Why do you think the author wrote your novel? What is the theme or message of your novel?12/9/2014 I think the author wrote the novel to highlight the bad things that happened during the time period and also the good that came out of it too.Such as how all of the Jews were put into concentration camps, but also how Bruno made friends with Shmuel I think the theme would be " Don't let friendship have boundaries and don't let religion bind you.¨ ya....

I believe that the author wrote the book because he wanted to give an example of what life was like for adventurous children during the 1940’s. He wanted to give the readers a feel of what someone Bruno’s age would go through. I think that the theme is that everyone has a different story to tell, and a different life to live, whether it’s good, or bad.

I think that the the author wrote this novel to show the innocence of young kids. Bruno does not know about the evil his father is doing and befriends Schmuel. Bruno does not realize all the awful things being done to the Jewish people in the camp. I think the message is that you can be friends with anyone despite your differences.

I think the author wrote this book because he wanted people to understand the hardships in a concentration camp, and a boy who doesn't understand it.

Chandra, can you give 1 example of a "bad thing" and 1 example of a "good thing?"

I agree with Mathias, The author does a great job showing the peoples struggles in the Out-with camp.

The author describes the high barbed-wire fence, the tall guard towers, the big entrance gate. All the people that live in the camp and how they have to wear the striped pajamas. I recently learned that the author meant to have Bruno mispronounce certain words in the book, such as the camp name itself, "Out-With" is actually Auschwitz. The "Fury" is a misinterpretation of "Führer" which means Adolf Hitler. Leave a Reply. |
